After going virtual in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Maine TREE hosted 21 teachers earlier this month at our first of two Teacher’s Tours.  From Sanford to Surry and from Edgecomb to Ashland, teachers from all corners of Maine took part in exploring the forests of Maine’s Moosehead Region and learning how to bring Project Learning Tree into their classrooms.

As we traveled on the bus during tour day two, our team was struck by the journal of Lindsay Strout. Lindsay is a science teacher at Sanford High School who encourages her students to broaden their understanding by drawing and taking visual notes as they learn and reflect. This is a practice she began earlier this year and, we are excited that she was willing to let us share her journal entry from our visits with Dove Tail Bats in Shirley and the drone demonstration with Weyerhaeuser.

The tours continue this week as another group of nearly two dozen teachers explores Maine’s Katahdin Region…
