Steve Laweryson working with CLP professionals

Steve Laweryson from Solon Maine, passed on March 11th, 2023, at Togus Veterans Hospital after a short illness. After serving his country valiantly in Viet Nam, he worked in the forest products industry his entire career which spanned over 45 years. His career started with Scott Paper/SD Warren as truck driver and logger as both a conventional & mechanical operator. He then transitioned to papermaking for the SAPPI paper mill in Hinckley for many years until his retirement. Steve was also a Certified Logging Professional (CLP) logger & licensed arborist since 1999.

Steve works with a group of logging professionals.

Steve’s ability to and interest in promoting safe work practices allowed him to become a well-respected directional felling instructor statewide for logging professionals, landowners, and occasional users. He was a man of faith, principle, and integrity. He truly believed that the instruction he provided would make a difference. Steve made his mark that will live on with everyone he touched in the logging community.

Steve was a very good friend of mine. We would discuss the goodness of God everytime we met. I’m so saddened that I didn’t know he was ill as I was fighting stage 4 cancer and pretty much out of it to know. To his son and daughter my deepest condolences to you both.
