Maine TREE welcomes Gavi Mallory as Forest Programs Manager

We are excited to announce that Gavi Mallory has joined our team as Forest Programs Manager. This position promotes and strengthens forest stewardship in Maine through overseeing Maine TREE’s forest-based community programming, including coordinating the Maine Tree Farm program and serving as property steward for the Holt Research Forest.

Gavi is passionate about promoting sustainable ecosystems and human communities in the face of climate change. She grew up in Massachusetts, though most of her childhood memories are in the Maine woods and on the shores of Lake Michigan. While earning her BA in Biology and Studio Arts from Swarthmore College, Gavi served as a MOFGA apprentice in Skowhegan and as an undergraduate research fellow in UMaine’s College of Food and Agriculture. She grew her skillsets in communication and stewardship as a place-based educator at North Country School before returning to school to earn her MS in Sustainable Forest Management from Oregon State University.

In her free time, Gavi can be found skate skiing, making watercolor paintings, and trail running with her pup, Fennel. She takes every opportunity to get outside, though she doesn’t mind a rainy day spent reading on the couch.

Gavi is thrilled to be back in Maine, contributing to thoughtful stewardship of the Northeast woods. She is particularly excited about the opportunity to connect with the dynamic community of forest practitioners, researchers, educators, and land managers promoting social, economic, and ecological sustainability in Maine.
